                        About me

My name is Jerry Serrano and I teach 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies at Wood Intermediate for the Davenport Community School District in Davenport, Iowa. The upcoming school year will be my 5th  year of teaching. Before teaching, I got my degree in History from the University of Northern Iowa with a religion minor. I entered Northern Iowa's graduate program seeking a MA in European history. I am currently one class shy of finishing. My area of specialization is Renaissance and Reformation history with emphasis in popular heretical movements after the year 1000. Currently, I'm researching the role of the Lancastrian family in the development of England's only heretical group, the Lollards.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, and tennis. I am a huge Chicago Cubs fan and I am expecting a World Series title sometime during my life. I also like the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Northern Iowa Panthers. I love playing video games; especially my Wii. My wife, Katrina also teaches 6th and 7th Grade at Wood Intermediate. We have two beautiful daughters; one starting Kindergarten and the other will be 1 in January.
